John Black

John Black read Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford. He was Fellow and Tutor in Economics at Merton College, Oxford, from 1957 to 1966, and Professor of Economic Theory at the University of Exeter from 1967 to 1996. He has been Assistant, Associate or Production Editor of the Review of Economic Studies between 1958 and 1971, of the Economic Journal from 1971 to 1980, and of Economic Policy from 1985 to 1995. He has written several books and has helped to edit books for the International Economics Study Group and the Centre for Economic Research. He took early retirement in 1984 to concentrate on editorial work, and is now Emeritus Professor of the University of Exeter, and Honorary Departmental Fellow at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
