Jane Johnstonis a Reader in Education and Academic Coordinator for the MA in Education at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln. She works extensively, both nationally and internationally in three distinct areas; early childhood studies, primary science education and practitioner research. Formerly she worked in Nottinghamshire as a primary classroom practitioner, working with children from 5-11 years of age and at the Nottingham Trent University as subject leader in primary science education. She is the author of many books, chapters and journal articles on early childhood, primary education and science education, includingEarly Explorations in Science,Enriching Early Scientific Learning,Teaching the Primary CurriculumandDeveloping Teaching Skills in the Primary Schoolall published by the Open University Press. In 2006, she was one of the first of 5 teachers to be awarded Chartered Science Teacher status which recognised that good teaching is underpinned by research and scholarship.John Halochais Reader in Geography Education and Academic Coordinator for Geography. He taught for seventeen years and was deputy head teacher in two schools. He began his career in teacher education at Westminster College Oxford, before moving to the School of Education at the University of Durham. He has published three books on geographical education and primary education, numerous chapters in books, journal articles and teaching materials, in addition to presenting papers across Europe on his research into geography education. His current research interests include the public perception of geography through programmes on broadcast television. He is both a Fellow and Chartered Geographer of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). For the year 2009-2010 he is President of the Geographical Association.
