Nuzo Onoh

Nuzo Onoh is an award-winning Nigerian-British writer of speculative fiction. She is a pioneer of the African horror literary subgenre. Hailed as the "Queen of African Horror", Nuzo's writing showcases both the beautiful and horrific in the African culture within fictitious narratives. Her works have featured in numerous magazines and anthologies, as well as academic and feminist studies. Nuzo was born in Enugu, the Eastern part of Nigeria, formerly known as The Republic of Biafra. She lived through the civil war between Nigeria and Biafra as a child refugee in multiple Biafran villages, an experience that left a strong impact on her and has influenced some of her writing. She is an Old Scholar of Queen's School Enugu, Nigeria, and The Mount School, York, England. Nuzo holds a Law degree and Masters degree in Writing, both from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. She is a certified Civil Funeral Celebrant, licensed to conduct non-religious burial services. An avid musician, Nuzo plays the guitar and piano, and holds an NVQ in Digital Music Production. She lives in The West Midlands, United Kingdom.
