Robert Shepherd

Rob Shepherd was Reuter Fellow at the University of Oxford and is now a programme editor for BBC television and radio producing on Straight Talk with Andrew Neil. He has been a Special Adviser in Whitehall, a parliamentary lobby correspondent and an award-winning television producer whose fly-on-the-wall documentary for Channel Four, filmed inside Number 10, the Cabinet and the Foreign Office won Europe's Prix Stendhal. His gripping account of the plotting that brought down Margaret Thatcher in 1990, The Power Broker Brokers: The Tory Party and its Leaders, is rated as 'required reading' by The Times and 'way ahead in the field'. He has written acclaimed biographies of Enoch Powell and Iain Macleod. He collaborated on John Biffen's book, Inside the House of Commons: Behind the Scenes at Westminster, and Jim Prior's memoirs, The Balance of Power and a contributor to the New Dictionary of National Biography and the Oxford Companion to 20th-century British Politics.
