Robert Slater was Yitzhak Rabin's official biographer, from his first term as prime minister of Israel. Slater was a longtime journalist, working for years as the Times correspondent in Israel and later as a reporter for United Press International (UPI). Slater also wrote biographies about some of the giants of politics and business, including Moshe Dayan, Golda Meir, Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, Jack Welch, and George Soros. In late 2013, Kotarim International Publishing approached Slater about updated his 1996 Rabin biography, Rabin of Israel. He was more than enthusiastic about the project, and set about re-interviewing many of his original sources. Slater revised and edited his biography, and also wrote a new Foreword and final chapter, giving a retrospective on the past two decades since Rabin's assassination. Sadly, only a few weeks after completing his draft of the book, Robert Slater passed away in Jerusalem. He was 70.
