Tirso de Molina

Tirso de Molina's real name was Gabriel Tellez and he studied at the Universidad de AlcalÁ de Henares before being ordained in Toledo, where he studied arts and theology. He'd go on to travel throughout Europe and the New World. He feared political and religious criticism of his plays and published anonymously to avoid accusations of immorality and heresy. Later, Pope Urban VIII anointed him as master and chief chronicler of his order.
