His Alaskan Christmas is an awesomely uplifting, small town, friends to more, Christmas romance. I love Ms. Carpenter's books. She writes such warm, interesting, engaged families. This well written book has Emily - a widow and engineer, her two kids - Max & Lyla, her mother-in-law - Janice, Nala - the golden retriever, and Nick, who agrees to be manny for Emily so Janice can take a well deserved, dream vacation. This book will wrap you in warm fuzzies and make you feel like a part of the family. Nick is great with Max, Lyla and Nala. Once Emily returns from the slopes and Janice from her vacation, Nick is supposed to have eye surgery and move to Hawaii for his dream job. It is easy to see Nick and Emily as a couple, but she does not want to deny him his Hawaiian dream nor does she want to leave Alaska. You will have to read this wonderful romance to see how Ms. Carpenter manages to tie all the threads together neatly. I could not put it down and just flew through the story!
About the author
Beth Carpenter grew up on a farm reading everything she could get her hands on, from cereal boxes to the encyclopedia. Saturday visits to the library were the highlight of her week. Due to motion sickness, she couldn't read on the school bus so she made up her own stories instead.She still consumes books like popcorn and loves to create happy endings for her imaginary friends. She believes dogs, books, and laughter are key to happiness. And dark chocolate. And love.
