About the author

JL Collins is an Australian author raised in that nation’s capital city, Canberra. He specialises in contemporary Australian fiction. He served as an officer in the Royal Australian Infantry and was posted to 1/19 Royal New South Wales Regiment. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University. From 2005 to 2009 he was Australia’s expert on cryptography at the Wassenaar Arrangement in Vienna.

By day he wears a suit in a Canberra office, but at night he dreams up new ways of making his characters take their clothes off. To date, he has written four novels and three short stories. He plans to finish his Love of a Lifetime series in 2026 before moving onto new projects.

His stories are inspired by recent Australian history and real events. Always on the lookout for new story ideas, groups like Newcastle Lifestyle Mingles fascinate him as he seeks to make fantasy and reality intersect.

His stories so far cover the relationship between Alison and Christian, who are NSW and ACT natives. Over the series, we will follow their romantic trials and erotic tribulations. I am currently writing my fifth book, the Cryptic Liaison, which enlists the creation of Bitcoin as the basis of another erotic adventure; truly! The series will culminate in 2026 with the ultimate book, The End of an Affair.

His second novel, Ghost of Timor, won romantic/erotic novel of the year and is also in the running for a second award in 2025.
