Persephone

Is it bad that all my knowledge of mythology is coming from my favourite authours interpretations? I don't think so, but it only solidifies my belief that the ending isn't the point of a story, the path along to that ending isn't where the story gets told, well, or not, by the authour. This was a great telling of the myth, and I am so happy that the annoying characters were removed so focus on our girl, and her mate, could be concentrated upon The part about this myth that I hate is that I know the ending has a separation, balanced, but still, it is there. The ending here gives that little wink and nudge, and that made it all the much better. I think the way Zeus is portrayed when he makes an appearance was dead-on, grown up frat boy with the attention span of a hamster, not to disrespect hamsters. I mean, come'on, the man, er god, has issues, it is well documented! But Hades, oh Hades, he was the epitome of Tall, Dark (with a capital D), and Handsome. Add a dash of danger and reverence, how could our sweet Peresphone even stand a chance. Hades has no idea what to do with the emotional tug he feels for Peresphone, but once he decides to ride that wave, he is unstoppable. Of course, until frat boy gets all uppity, then things really do fall apart. And this is why our girl, umm heroine, saves the day See, her Daddy got a little too overprotective and interfered where he shouldn't have. He didn't do this for her, he did it for himself, of course. Once he restores balance, she can save the day, and once she can save the day, Hades gets to save the day with her. At the end of the story, it is about the feelings Peresphone and Hades have for each other, and how they are less than selfish to keep their self in the relationship And of course, lots of crazy and wild smexy times along the way!

Good read and an interesting take on a bit of old mythology. Recommend.
