About this ebook

He broke her heart, and now he’s back . . .

From the New York Times Bestselling Author Penny Reid

One week.

Manhattan apartment.

Super-hot ex-boyfriend.

…What’s the worst that could happen?

It’s been nine months since Kaitlyn Parker has seen or heard from Martin Sandeke—nine months and five stages of matter. She’s lived through the worst of first-love heartbreak, and is most certainly stronger (and less likely to hide in science cabinets) than ever before.

But now Martin is back. And he wants to be friends. But he’s sending mixed signals to the Bunsen burner in Kaitlyn’s pants. Will Martin re-capture Kaitlyn’s heart? Can Kaitlyn and Martin ever be just friends? Or, despite an abundance of chemistry, are some bonds just too unstable to endure?

Elements of Chemistry: CAPTURE is the final part in a three part series; it is 65k words.

Part 1 (ATTRACTION) Available Now! (ends on a cliffhanger)

Part 2 (HEAT) Available Now! (ends on a cliffhanger)

Part 3 (CAPTURE) Available Now!

*** 2.5 STARS *** This is the third and concluding book in the Elements of Chemistry series. It starts off 9 months after Kaitlyn and Martin broke up. Kaitlyn is now a musician doing gigs and she runs into Martin again. He asks to be her friend but she is still in love with him. This read like a standalone novel as a second chance book. It seemed totally disconnected from the first 2 books. You could read this book and never read the others. I read it to finish the story but found this an exercise in frustration. Both Martin and Kaitlyn's characters were different. I found Kaitlyn unsympathetic - it was all about how Martin had broken her heart but she was the one who broke up with him. She was still completely clueless and it grated because her character should have grown and learned. All the quirks and humor, honesty and communication in the first 2 books were gone. Instead we had a long drawn out book about lack of communication and misunderstandings. There was little acknowledgement of her faults in this book (there was some, so not completely none) but Martin gave a lot more ground. I also didn't understand why something that was such a huge deal 9 months earlier (and led to a break up) suddenly went away, just because Kaitlyn could say no to her mother. This book also had the opportunity to explore issues about Kaitlyn and Martin that were brought up in Heat but again these were completely ignored. And finally, the characters didn't act their age. She was still 20 and Martin was 21 and they were acting like they were in their late 20s. It felt odd. After reading all three books, I feel like the books would have been better as a duet, and they took a left turn (not for the better) in Heat and never quite recovered. A lot of missed opportunities.

Cute with expected level of cheesiness. First 2 books were fun and flirty, but this one is all dialog and inner turmoil with no intimacy or romance until literally the last 20 pages or so. If you liked the overwhelming desire and frantic passion of the first 2 books, just stop there.
