About this ebook

It’s too late to turn back now . . .

From the New York Times Bestselling Author Penny Reid

Four days left.

Private beach (…and boat).

Not so invisible girl.

And maybe less of a jerk-faced bully than originally thought.

What’s the worst (or the best) that could happen?

Kaitlyn is finding life outside of the science cabinet of obscurity to be quite illuminating …and so are her pants. When things heat up between Kaitlyn Parker and Martin—previously known as the jerk-faced bully—Sandeke, she places her trust in the one person she never thought capable of earning it, let alone keeping it safe. Fortunately or unfortunately for Kaitlyn, where she gives her trust she can’t help but also give her heart.

But how will the world beyond the sanctuary of their newfound connection react to their relationship? Soon senators, chinless billionaires, and elements beyond Martin and Kaitlyn’s control want to weigh in on the young couple’s future.

Navigating the chaotic inferno of new love might be more than Kaitlyn bargained for, and much, much more than her trust—or her heart—can handle.

*** 3.5 STARS*** Cliffhanger warning So this is the second book in the elements of chemistry series. It takes off where Attraction left off and continues the story of Kaitlyn and Martin. Overall, I enjoyed this book until the end. As I mentioned before, I like Penny Reid's writing and I did like the characters. To be honest though I ended up liking and feeling sorry for Martin a lot more in this book than in the first one. I liked the development of their story. Having said that I had a number of issues with the book. It was again focused on the rest of the week they spend together. I don't understand why the time is so constrained. It makes the emotions weaker. Also a number of things came to light about Martin's past, and Kaitlyn way of dealing with issues, but these were never explored in the book. And that kept the characters from developing depth. I also had massive issues with the cliffhanger ending. It felt unnatural and forced. I didn't like Kaitlyn's righteous and holier than thou attitude, her unwillingness to fight, and her lack of empathy for Martin. I get that he was living in the past but expecting him to drop all that in a second just because she wants him to seemed childish. And giving him an ultimatum also seemed childish. Martin also acting badly in the last argument and that seemed out of character, considering how much he worked at trying not to hurt Kaitlyn. Again, it felt angst was created for the sake of angst. It really detracted from their story. Having said that I went ahead and read the third one because I wanted to see this through.

I like the content and am interested to read what happens next but feel $4.99 for a 90 page short story is a bit high. This is more a .99 cent book.
