About this ebook

The author traces the paths of one of the most distinctive and well-known humanists, religious organizers, preachers, ministers and theologians of the 16th century. He introduces the reader to the education and influence Calvin enjoyed as well as to the central elements of his theological program.By drawing on the private letters of Calvin to his friend Du Tillit the author can at once offer a personal and a scientific portrait of the great Reformer. There are may references as well to the substantial secondary literature to enable the reader both to approach Calvin's own writings and to participate in the discussion thereof.
