About this ebook

Happiness Is Homemade is a charmingly illustrated book, especially made to prevent us from stressing over this crowded digital world that often plagues us.

A blogger, illustrator, and doodle artist-Puty Puar-shares her simplest yet deepest thought about life. What is happiness? Where do we find it? She tried to picture it; that happiness isn't a matter of size; big or small, near or far, alone or together. The book offers a bunch of inspirations and some sources of happiness:

- Giving a sincere comment and accepting one

- Unexpectedly finding money forgotten inside your pocket

- Getting home on time, just before the rain started

- Deleting messages you thought you'll never let go

Eventually, happiness is indeed inside our heart. And home is wherever out heart is, and happiness is homemade.

Being away from home, and trying to meet new people, and going out a lot … I became terrified of being alone. I constantly want to go out, which is really odd, because I used to cherish being alone so much. At one point, I decided” “This is not making me as happy as I’d like to be,” I need to reconnect with “me”. I turned into a “grandmother”; I go to bed really early and I wake up early; I go to yoga; I meditate; I become this cliche slow-paced person I used to make fun of. Luckily, it works for me. It’s just a way for me trying to achieve that state of wellness and happiness. So, last year, we—Puty Puar and I—went on a pilot to collect a bunch of inspirations and sources of homemade happiness. The quality that she was describing, I think as a kind of quality we want to pass on the next generation, or probably for now: for ourselves, for our family, for our closest circle. Why would we focus more on passing children science than kindness, connecting to the others, and happiness? There’s an assumption that happiness, it just happens in life. But the more we know, we just have to look around us. In ourselves, in our home, in our society. It just doesn’t happen for everybody. If we’re not talking about those people who are struggling don’t have permission to talk about that. I think for a long time, it’s just us swept under the rug and it’s something we don’t really want to talk about. We’re trying to make it be socially acceptable where we can talk about our minds in the same way we talk about technology and economics. And we hope, through that, we can find a place that feels comfortable, and a happier mind :).
