About the author
Willibald Alexis eigentlich Georg Wilhelm Heinrich Haering wurde am 29.6.1798 in Breslau geboren und starb am 16.12.1871 in Arnstadt/Thüringen. Er war ein deutscher Schriftsteller, der als Begründer des realistischen historischen Romans in der deutschen Literatur gilt. Er stammte aus einer bretonischen Flüchtlingsfamilie. Sein Vater arbeitete für Preussen als Kanzleidirektor in Breslau. Er starb bereits im Jahr 1802.
