Really enjoyed this one. Here we have Cash and Presley, they were together years ago, before Cash broke Presley’s heart by leaving her behind. To be honest, I wasn’t that much happy about Cash at first, I get why he left, but not a fan of the ‘it’s for the better’ thing. I mean, why not to talk to the person instead of making decisions for others? You know? However, I get it and I could see where he was coming from. HE even saw he made a mistake, so good for him. Still, at least he made it up, lol. Ok, so Cash was all famous and great, but deep down he was missing a big part in life, he just didn’t know it was Pres. I ended up liking this guy, he was great to his family and very grounded for this type of environment. As for Presley, she was great. Loved her work, she just wasn’t very much appreciated, which is why doing a report on Cash would be great for her career. She just wasn’t counting on still loving him, lol. I liked their story; how they found each other again; how they learned to love, to really love this time. <3 *Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*

3.5★ I’ve received this book as an ARC from the author and this is my honest review. This is the second book of the Dynasties: Beaumont Bay series. We first met the Sutherland brothers in Twin games in Music City by Jules Bennett. This second story is written by Jessica Lemmon just as the fourth book of the series will be. This is the story of Cash Sutherland, a famous country music star-bad boy, and Presley Cole, an eager journalist and Cash’s ex girlfriend. They met a few years back, when both were attending College; they’d burn and crash, leaving Presley in Cash’s rearview mirror. After a DUI, Cash is in need of good press so, in order to get that, his brothers and owners of the record company where Cash does all his work, hired Presley to revamp his battered reputation. What starts with two people just passing by and doing just their jobs to fulfil their own agenda, turns into a sizzling attraction that burns the sheets and puts their hearts in the line. Will they overcome their past or will they crash and burn after a few rounds in bed? You’ve to read it to find out, but I assure you won’t be disappointed with the outcome.

"He'd found his forever. Twice, as it'd turned out." A reporter and the famous country singer who let her go to chase his dream, while leaving the dream of her behind, make for a wonderful second chance story. I mean, what's not to love? Cash Sutherland was perfect. The country music star who made his dream come true and is now on stage performing for people. He won awards, he's famous everywhere. But he's also heartbroken, and closed-off, because he knows the price he paid to get all of this: he let the one woman in his life he truly loved get away. And that weighs heavy on his heart. Presley (love the name, by the way) was left behind by her boyfriend in college. She never really understood why that happened, or why he broke things off with her. Obviously, she's aware of his country music stardom, and being a reporter for a magazine means she can get close to him again and maybe find out some of the secrets to his fame and more about him, without getting wrapped up in all that is Cash again. Good luck with that! You see, Cash once wrote a song called 'Lightning', and that was the song that catapulted him into the limelight. But no one ever knew who the song was about, or what's the story behind it, if there even is one. And Presley is determined to get to the bottom of it. When they get together, there are sparks flying everywhere. He's been with other people, and so has she, but they've never actually been together until now. And what was before is still there, waiting to be drawn to the surface. I love that Presley breaks down his walls, and I love that Cash wants to put her first. I loved the setting of Cash's lake house and the moments they shared. Their feelings are palpable and I wanted to hit them both on their respective heads, while still rooting for them, of course. A detail was missing for me, and this is my opinion only because it takes nothing away from the book. I would've liked to see more of 'Lightning' to really get inside Cash's heart, and to fully understand the depth of his feelings for Presley. The regret about letting her go, the wish of wanting her back, the pain of chasing one dream while leaving another behind. Theirs is a beautiful, well-written second-chance love story that shows us what's meant to be is really meant to be. I feel maybe they needed to experience life before it brought them together again. Granted, maybe there was time lost in the process, time in which they could've been together, but maybe their time apart was necessary for both of them to understand what really matters. And that lightning sometimes strikes twice.
