Albert Wertheimer, PhD, MBA Albert Wertheimer is a professor of pharmacy economics at the School of Pharmacy, Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA, where has been since 2000. Previously, he was a professor at the University of Minnesota, Dean at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, Director of Health Outcomes Management at Merck and Company, and a vice president at First Health, a pharmacy benefit management (PBM) firm. He received a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Buffalo; a Masters of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a PhD degree from Purdue University. He was also a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Social Medicine at St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School of the University of London (UK). He is the author or co-author of 31 books, 410 articles in scientific and professional journals and 30 book chapters. He has directed 85 Ph.D. students and a similar number of Masters degree students. Professor Wertheimer has consulted or lectured in over 60 countries. He holds visiting or adjunct professorships at Universities in Taiwan, Turkey, China, Mexico, Malaysia, among others. He is the editor of the quarterly journal, Journal of Pharmaceutical Health Services Research, published by Wiley-Blackwell. He has been the recipient of numerous international awards such as a Scheele Laureate from the Swedish Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Fellowship in the Mexican Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Andre Bedat Award from the International Pharmacy Federation (FIP), research achievement award from the American Pharmacists Association, and Fellowship from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Dr. Wertheimer maintains an active consulting practice where he assists pharmaceutical companies, governmental and international agencies, professional societies and other clients. He lives near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
